I’m on my second week of this life: listening to Rammstein with my high-schooler on the ride in to school, with pastoral drop-off moments. 🐔🌻🐐

Ace emergency
Spent the day in the animal hospital - kitty is fine now, but it was a stressful morning. It’s unclear exactly what was causing her sudden urinary issues, but I’m glad that we got her checked out, and she’s hopefully on the mend. The vets & techs all commented on what a good cat she is! 😻😻😻

So I’m doing an experiment in cross-posting. I have hopefully set things up so that this post, here on micro.blog, will populate within Mastodon and Blue Sky — two accounts that I set up a while ago and have not done much with.
Here’s a recent photo of my cat lounging like a weirdo walrus.
Something magical was happening and I wanted to capture it to share with you all, but I didn’t have my phone with me. I ran back to the house to grab it, knowing that the moment would pass by the time I returned. But the photos I got were not a bad consolation prize, even if not what I’d hoped for.

You, too, can relive your childhood of Brownie sashes and DIY fashion! Iron-on patches and plain tote from 25 Central in Northampton. My afternoon project (which my teenager says came out “vibesy”) and the soundtrack I ironed-on to.

RIP Tim Curry
One of the first movies that I got really into, as a very young kid, was Annie. Tim Curry scared the crap out of me as Rooster. I loved the movie, and watched it constantly, and listened to the record all the time – we’re talking as a 4-5 year old – and I’m certain that he gave me literal nightmares.
When I got into the Rocky Horror Picture Show as a high-schooler, I didn’t even realize that it was the same actor playing Frank N. Furter! I have great memories of going to the Brattle Theater in Harvard Square with my friends, and even checking it out with my dad and younger sisters (one of many weird memories of things that happened with my weird family).
It’s fascinating how a stranger can touch your life at very different stages, and how their work can find you at different times in your life cycle. I hadn’t put together that Tim Curry was a central figure in each of these very formative pieces for me until he passed (on my birthday). RIP.

I’m in good company today. This Are.na channel is having its time to shine!
